Adding Images to Your Bongo4U Site

Adding Images to Your Bongo4U Site

This article explains how to add images to your Bongo4U site. If you wish to replace an existing image, go here. If you wish to delete an image, go here.

In Bongo4U, images are usually added to a page by using WYSIWYG blocks. If you are interested in slideshows instead, go here. If you are interested in galleries, go here.

Overview: To add an image to your Bongo4U website, you need to navigate to the page that needs the image added, find or create a WYSIWYG block, open it and add or upload the image. The following instructions will guide you through this process.

Info
Supported image file types are .gif, .jpeg, .jpg, .png.

Log in and Proceed to the Page

Log in to your Bongo4U Website admin area and go to the page you want to add content to (by clicking that page's link in the navigation).

If you'd like to add an image to a new WYSIWYG block, proceed to Step 1A.

If you'd like to add an image to an existing WYSIWYG block, proceed to Step 1B.

Step 1A - Create a New WYSIWYG Block

Hover your mouse over (or tap) the "Page Menu:" box or link, and the Page Menu will appear.

Bongo4U Page Menu

Hover over (or tap) the "Add to this Page" option on the Page Menu and select WYSIWYG.

It will be added to the bottom of the current page.

Now that you have a WYSIWYG block created, proceed with Step 2.

Step 1B - Open an Existing WYSIWYG Block

Click an existing "Block: WYSIWYG" link to edit your page's content.

Determine the location within that WYSIWYG block's content where you want the image inserted and click at that location (i.e. move your cursor to the insert location).

Step 2 - Select or Upload an Image

Click the Image icon (a picture of a tree) from the WYSIWYG control panel.

An Insert/Edit Image pop-up window will open.

Notes
If the Insert/Edit Image window does not open, then you probably have pop-ups disabled. Check for a message near the top of the page from your web browser and select the option that enables pop-ups from the current site (permanently) so that you can edit your WYSIWYG page content. Once enabled, you might need to click on the Image icon (a picture of a tree) again.

Insert/Edit Image pop-up window

Click the "Get Image" link in the Insert/Edit Image window.

You will see the Select or Upload Images window open at a Browse tab that lists all the images that have been previously uploaded to your site. To use one of these existing images, click its filename within the list of existing images.

Browse tab with previously uploaded images

Or, to upload a new image, click the "Upload" tab near the top and follow the Upload Files instructions.

After you have uploaded and/or selected the desired image file, you will be returned to the first pop-up window (where the "Get Image" link is).

Enter a short Image Description (and/or Title) for this image. Users will see this text when they hover over the image, assistive devices will use this text, and search engines will also use this text.

Populating image Description and Title

Click the [Insert] button near the bottom, and your image will be added to your page at the insert location (you might need to scroll down or resize the window to see the button).

To insert another image, click at its desired insert location within the WYSIWYG block, click the "Select/Upload images" (tree) icon, click the "Get Image" link, and do these steps again.

Important! Once you are done inserting all the images, save the changes to your WYSISYG block by clicking the [Save Changes] button (otherwise, your additions and/or changes will be lost).
