Creating a New Mailchimp Campaign

Overview

The articles in this "Mailchimp" section refer to situations where Emerge2 Digital created and configured a Mailchimp account for a client, including an initial template and an initial campaign, and then handed the account over to the client to use to send email communications to their customers.

The process involves copying or cloning a recent campaign to make a new campaign with all of the correct default parameters, and then editing that new campaign to have your desired business content.

This is the first of three articles regarding preparing an email campaign (Create, Test, Deploy).

How to Create a new Campaign

  1. Login to your Mailchimp account
  2. Select “Campaigns” in the top navigation bar, and then click on “All campaigns”
  3. Find the most recent email campaign in your account that will be copied or cloned to create your new campaign
  4. For this email campaign to be cloned, look at the drop-down list beside the "Edit" link, and select the "Replicate" option
  5. Settings for your new campaign will appear. The settings will be defaulted to the campaign that you cloned from.
  6. Update these campaign settings for your new campaign
  7. For example, click "Edit name" under the name of the campaign. Each campaign should have a unique campaign name.
  8. Each campaign should also have a unique Subject line
  9. Update any other applicable campaign settings
  10. To update the main email message, click "Edit Design" which will load a page of the main email content
    1. Here is where you can edit the content from your previous email campaign replacing it with the content for your new campaign
    2. Click each text areas on the left side of the screen and the panel on the right of the screen will change to allow you to edit its content
    3. Review and update each of the text areas
    4. When you are done updating the content, click "Continue" in the top-right corner, which will bring you back to the settings.
  11. On the top-right of the page, click [Finish Later] to save this draft
