Periodically, an American state or Canadian province or territory will change its sales tax rate. In Canada, that might be a change in the HST or
PST sales tax rate or the federal government might change the national
GST rate. When any of these rates change, you should update the sales
tax table in your Volusion (Boost) catalog.
For example, HST rates changed for NB and NL as of July 1, 2016, HST rates changed for PE
as of October 1, 2016.
When you initially signed up for your Volusion catalog, the state sales tax rate or HST/GST
sales tax rate for each Canadian province and territory was set to the
known rates at that time. If you were in a Canadian province that had a PST rate then the PST rate was set for your own province
(at the time).
It is each dealer's responsibility to keep their catalog's sales tax rates updated whenever a rate changes.
It's easy to update the tax rate table in your catalog admin area
yourself. You can also choose to ask Emerge2 to do the update for you
(see below details).
As an option, you can request that we (Emerge2) access your catalog admin area, scan each
of your current tax rates and update any incorrect tax rates (based upon
publicly available sales tax info). You will only be charged for our time at our normal hourly rate for the review and/or for any changes. You must ask us to do this. We do not monitor changes to all state and province sales tax rates and offer a service to update any rates whenever they change. If you know of a tax rate change or want us to review your rates, just ask us.
Later, if other tax rates change, you may ask Emerge2 to do another
scan of your tax rates and to update any incorrect rates to the publicly
available rates at that time, for a one-time fee.
To request Emerge2 to update your Volusion sales tax rates, please
send your request by email to your normal Emerge2 contact or to support@emerge2.com
Here is a link to publicly available provincial/territorial HST/GST sales tax rates from the federal government:
PST Note: In addition to loading the HST/GST rate
for each province and territory, if your province/territory uses "PST
and GST" (instead of HST) then also load your PST rate into the "Second
Tax Title & Rate" line for your province/territory. This only needs
to be done for provinces/territories where you have a tax presence,
which usually means that PST only needs to be loaded for your province
(if your province doesn't use HST).
