Removing Orgill Products from Volusion Catalog

Removing Orgill Products from Volusion Catalog

Important

Removing (Deleting) an Orgill product from your Boost catalog must be done in two places:
  • In the Boost Content Manager (BCM) - removes product from the weekly refresh of product data
  • In your Volusion Catalog admin area - immediately removes product from online catalog (until next weekly refresh)
To remove/delete a non-Orgill product, use this article instead.

Notes

  • You need to look-up and record (write down) the category that the product is in before deleting it from the Volusion Catalog.
  • The product can only be found in BCM using its category (not its SKU).
  • Products can only be removed one-at-a-time in the Volusion Catalog and in BCM (there is no bulk delete option).

Removing Products from Catalog

  1. Login to your Volusion catalog's admin area using a login which has "Product Update" permission. Ask Emerge2 if you don't have such a login.
  2. Hover over "Inventory" and click "Products"
  3. Click the "Search" link
  4. Enter the SKU to be updated into the "Code" field (don't enter any hyphens from the SKU, just the 7 digits including any leading zeroes). If you don't know the SKU, then search by the product name in the Name field.
  5. Click the orange [Search] button at the bottom to find the product
  6. Click the SKU link in the search results for the product to be deleted
  7. Under "Basic Info" is the "Categories" field. Record the entire Categories line (after "Home") along with the SKU and product name. If there are multiple lines, you only need one of the lines.
  8. An example category: "Home > HAND TOOLS > MECHANICS TOOLS > PLIERS & CUTTERS & WRENCHES > MAGNETS & MAGNITIZERS"
  9. If you do not record this line accurately, you will not be able to remove this product from BCM which means it will re-appear in your catalog within a week (after the next weekly product data refresh).
  10. Click the "..." menu (top-right corner) and select the "Delete" option
  11. Click the [Yes, Delete] button in the resulting confirmation pop-up
  12. If you have another product to remove, go back to instruction 2 (Hover over Inventory...) until you are done removing all of the products from your Volusion Catalog that need to be deleted

Removing Products from BCM

  1. Login to BCM. The BCM web address and login credientials can be found in the initial access email you received from Orgill when your skeleton catalog was initially created. Or ask Emerge2 for it.
  2. BCM controls all of the product data flowing into your catalog on a regular basis. It has powerful features, but no controls or limits. It is assumed that you know what to do and the implications of any changes. Please only do exactly what is described in the instructions.
  3. Hover over "PRODUCT MANAGER" and click the "Category/Product Masking" option.
  4. Do not uncheck any of the checkboxes beside these category and sub-category names.
  5. Look at the category for a product to be deleted (from the recorded list). Ignore the first word ("Home").
  6. Click on the category name in BCM for the top-level category (e.g. "HAND TOOLS"). Do not click the checkbox, just click the actual name.
  7. You will see a list of the sub-categories that exist under the clicked category.
  8. Click on the category name for the second-level category (e.g. "MECHANICS TOOLS"). Do not click the checkbox, just click the actual name.
  9. You will see a list of the sub-sub-categories that exist under the clicked sub-category.
  10. Continue clicking the next lower category name in the category line you recorded earlier, one at a time, until you "drill down" to the list of products.
  11. Once you see a list of products, then locate the product you wish to remove and UNcheck the checkbox beside that product.
  12. Scroll down to the button of the page and check the red [Save] button.
  13. If you have another product to remove, go back to instruction 3 (Hover over "PRODUCT MANAGER"...) until you are done removing all of the products from BCM that need to be deleted
