Product Price Changes in Bulk

Product Price Changes in Bulk

Important

Changing product prices must be done in two places:
  • In the Boost Content Manager (BCM) - changes pricing for the weekly refresh of product data
  • In your Catalog admin area - immediately changes online catalog (until next weekly refresh)

Overview

  • You need to create a simple two-column spreadsheet containing the product SKU in one column and its over-ride price in the second column.
  • The spreadsheet needs to be in a specific format, but you can download an empty spreadsheet in the correct format from within BCM.
  • Prices will be changed in bulk within BCM using the spreadsheet.
  • Prices will be changed one-at-a-time in the Catalog (no bulk upload for the catalog).

Preparation

  1. Login to BCM. The BCM web address and login credientials can be found in the initial access email you received from Orgill when your skeleton catalog was initially created. Or ask Emerge2 for it.
  2. BCM controls all of the product data flowing into your catalog on a regular basis. It has powerful features, but no controls or limits. It is assumed that you know what to do and the implications of any changes. Please only do exactly what is described in the instructions.
  3. Hover over "PRICING" and click the "Sku Price Upload" option.
  4. Click link "Click here to Download Excel sheet" and download an empty spreadsheet in the required format.
  5. Click link "Click here to view standard format" to see a pop-up that explains the required data for the spreadsheet.
  6. Open the downloaded spreadsheet and enter each SKU on a separate line (under the heading line).
  7. Enter the over-ride price in cents for each SKU, beside the SKU, in the second column. IMPORTANT: The over-ride price needs to be specified in cents, no decimal place. For example, to specify $125.98, enter: 12598 (no decimal)
  8. Save the spreadsheet.
  9. If you rename the spreadsheet file, then you must also rename the tab/worksheet name within the spreadsheet (they must have the same name).
  10. Suggestion: Keep all of your current price over-rides in one master price over-ride spreadsheet. Add and remove specific SKU over-rides to/from this one spreadsheet whenever there are changes, but always reload the entire spreadsheet, removing all previous over-rides in the process.

Load Prices into BCM

  1. In BCM, you should still be on the "PRICING / Sku Price Upload" page.
  2. Click the [Browse...] button and locate the spreadsheet that you entered the SKUs and prices into, and select the spreadsheet with the [Open] button.
  3. If you wish to remove all previously uploaded price over-rides, then click to enable the "[x] Delete existing Sku Price and then import Sku" checkbox. This poorly-worded checkbox does not delete all SKU prices in your catalog. If enabled, the checkbox only removes any previously specified price over-rides. This checkbox only relates to over-ride prices being removed which will revert products back to their normal price before your current spreadsheet of over-rides is loaded.
  4. Click the [Upload] button to do the actual work.
  5. It might not look like anything is happening after you click the [Upload] button, but just wait until the "Summary Report" is displayed. The report will indicate how many changes were made and if any were rejected.

Load Prices into Catalog

  1. You might want to print the BCM spreadsheet used above so you can use it as a checklist as you manually load each price into the catalog (so you don't lose track of where you are in the list).
  2. Login to your catalog's admin area using the "super-admin" login credientials. Ask Emerge2 if you don't have this info.
  3. Hover over "Inventory" and click "Products"
  4. Click the [Search] button
  5. Enter the SKU to be updated into the "Code" field (don't enter any hyphens from the SKU, just the numbers)
  6. Click the orange [Search] button at the bottom to find this SKU
  7. Click the SKU link in the search results
  8. Under "Basic Info" is a "Price" field. Enter your over-ride price into this field, replacing the previous amount. Put it into dollar format with 2 decimals even if the decimals are zero (".00"). For example, to specify $125.98, enter: 125.98
  9. (Do not update any other fields on this page)
  10. Click the orange [Save] button at the bottom
  11. Check this SKU off your checklist (as done)
  12. Go back to instruction 3 for the next SKU (Hover over Inventory....) until you are done updating all of the SKUs
