"Featured Products" are randomly displayed on the Volusion catalog landing page. They are a great way of highlighting certain products each month (whether or not you put the products on sale).

• You need to UNset your previously featured products (if any).
  
• You need to SET your new featured products.
  
• Featured products can have an optional sale price (or not).
  
• Certain products should not be used as featured products (criteria is listed below under "Preparation").
  
• Changes to featured products are immediate and there is no way to set them ahead of time using an effective date (unfortunately), so perform these steps on the day you wish the changes to be implemented.
  
• Don't ever UNset all of the featured products without setting new featured products, otherwise your catalog landing page will be empty (which doesn't look good).
  

Preparation

1. Determine which products you want to feature in the coming month or period.
   
2. Record the SKU (product code) for each product.
   
3. If you want the product to be on sale, then also record it's sale price.
   
4. Verify Each Product: Look up each of these product SKUs in your catalog and ALSO go to the product detail page to see if this product has ANY one of the following issues:
   
   • SKU is not found in online catalog - BAD
     
   • There is NO product photo - BAD
     
   • It says "This item cannot be shipped..." - BAD (this note is only shown on the product detail page)
     
   • It says there is a minimum/multiple quantity - BAD (this note is only shown on the product detail page)
     
5. Reject the product if any of the above "BAD" issues exist for it.
   
6. You should try to have approximately 6-12 compatible (not BAD) featured products (but not fewer than 6). More than 12 is fine if you wish, they will be randomly displayed.
   
7. Record these compatible SKUs (and optional sale prices). You will need this list to set them up, and to UNset them next month/period when they are no longer featured products.
   
8. Your Volusion Admin login account must have "Product Maintenance" privilege or you will not be able to update the product data.

UNset Previous Featured Products

1. Obtain the list of last month's featured products. If you don't have any previous featured products, then skip this section and jump to "Set New Featured Products"
   
2. Login to your catalog's Admin area.
   
3. Hover over "Inventory" and click "Products"
   
4. Click the [Search] button
   
5. Enter the SKU to be Unset into the "Code" field (don't enter any hyphens from the SKU, just the numbers)
   
6. Click the blue [Search] button at the top-right to find this SKU
   
7. Click the SKU link in the search results ("Product Code" column)
   
8. Under "Basic Info" is a "Price" field. Do NOT change this regular price.
   
9. Scroll down and click the "Advanced Info" heading to open it (unless it is already open).
   
10. Click the "Product Display" option (under Advanced Info)
    
11. Scroll down to the "Feature Product on the Homepage" field and change it from "Home Featured" to be "Select" (to UNset it).
    
12. Click the "Pricing" option (under Advanced Info)
    
13. Remove any price from the "Sale Price" field, leaving this field empty.
    
14. Click the blue [Save] button in the top-right
    
15. Go back to instruction 3 for the next SKU (Hover over Inventory....) until you are done UNsetting all of the previous SKUs
    

Set New Featured Products

1. Obtain the list of new compatible featured products to be set.
   
2. Login to your catalog's Admin area (if you aren't already logged in).
   
3. Hover over "Inventory" and click "Products"
4. Click the [Search] button
   
5. Enter the SKU to be set into the "Code" field (don't enter any hyphens from the SKU, just the numbers)
   
6. Click the blue [Search] button at the top-right to find this SKU
   
7. Click the SKU link in the search results ("Product Code" column)
   
8. Under "Basic Info" is a "Price" field. Do NOT change this regular price even if you have a sale price. Do not change this price field.
   
9. Scroll down and click the "Advanced Info" heading to open it (unless it is already open).
   
10. Click the "Product Display" option (under Advanced Info)
    
11. Scroll down to the "Feature Product on the Homepage" field and change it from "Select" to be "Home Featured" (to SET it).
12. If you want to put this product on sale, then also:
    
    • Click the "Pricing" option (under Advanced Info)
      
    • Enter your sale price into the "Sale Price" field. Put the price into dollar format with 2 decimals even if the decimals are zero (".00"). For example, to specify $125.98, enter: "125.98", or to specify $30, enter "30.00" - do NOT enter the "$" or any comma.
      
13. Click the blue [Save] button in the top-right
    
14. Go back to instruction 3 for the next SKU (Hover over Inventory....) until you are done setting all of the new featured product SKUs
